If you’re tired of buying a bride a gift she has pre-registered for and seeing a smile of simple satisfaction on her face, listen to this new gift idea.
A perfect bridal shower, bachelorette party or engagement gift is a Wedding Day Survival Kit. The kit can be large or small, depending on your budget and the bride’s maintenance needs.
Start with a cosmetic bag, or even a cute purse or tote. A perfect style is a roll-up bag with clear pockets so you hang the kit on a hook and can see its contents without digging around.
Gather a variety of things you think the bride will need on her wedding day.
Here is an example of a kit I put together for my future sister-in-law:
• Hand lotion
• Wet wipes
• Cotton balls or swabs
• Nail file
• Nail Polish Remover
• Scissors
• Hairpins, hair ties, barrettes
• Perfume
• Deodorant
• Toothbrush and Toothpaste
• Cold Medicine
• Aspirin
• Upset Stomach Relief
• Tampons
• Band-aids
• Safety pins
• Kleenex
• Shout Wipes
• Emory board
• Drinking straw
• Hand sanitizer
• Scotch tape
• Toothpicks
• Chapstick
• Notepads
• Shaver
• Mints
• Mirror
• Sewing kit
• Super glue
• Lint remover
• Static remover
• Snacks
I like to take it one step further and personalize the kit by creating a title tag with a picture of the future bride and groom, or use a funny picture of the bride! Put the title tag in a clear pocket so it is visible, or tie it with a cute ribbon to the handle or zipper of the kit. Example: “Josie’s Wedding Day Survival Kit October 4, 2008”
Trust me, the survival kit will be a hit at the shower and be the gift that everyone will be talking about. And on the Bride’s big day – she will have everything she needs to relax and embrace her big day!
