Summer is just around the corner. Instead of just letting the kids lounge away inside watching TV, create some summertime fun! Our party experts have 5 ways to make your backyard more fun.
Camping Trip
A fun way to spend a summer evening is to make your backyard into a campsite. Invite friends over and roast hot dogs and make s’mores. Consider leaving the tent up all summer, it has more uses than just camping shelter. You can use it as a club house, a sun shelter, a changing room for when the kiddie pool is out, and a little get away for some night time reading or story telling.
Art Canvas
Use your clothes line as a giant easel. Hang an old white bed sheet from the clothesline and gather up some squirt bottles. Fill up the squirt bottles with 1 cup tempera paint, 1 and 1/2 cups water and a teaspoon of liquid dish washing soap. Do this for as many colors as you desire. Then let the kids spray away! They can use their creation for a fort, a flag or a hammock!

Neighborhood Game Night
Get the neighbors together and host weekly game nights. It’s a great way to stay connected with the neighbors and build a sense of community. Great games to play include, badmiton, water balloon toss, croquet, or design a series of relay races. Check out more classic kids games for inspiration.
Light Up The Night
Pull our those holiday lights or find some fun summer themed lights and decorate the backyard. Put them up on the backside of the house, bushes and trees, even line the deck with them. You’ll have a festive feel everytime you are outside in the evening. It also makes great lighting for summer talent shows or plays you put on for friends and family!
Star Gazing
Star gazing is the perfect excuse to stay up late. You can get a star chart that tells you what constellations should be visible based on the time of year and your location. Kids will love learning about the mysteries in the sky and you’ll be amazed at what they can start to identify.

I love the idea of leaving a tent up in the backyard as changing station or sunshade for the summer. Awesome ideas!
- by busybeeWhen i was a kid i always wanted to do something of this sort, but mum never let us do such activities. I ll arrange a outdoor camping for my children so that they can have a lot of fun gazing at the sky. Thanks a lot for the ideas!
