The first step to creating a photo card is to be able to upload your photo into the PurpleTrail Design Center. There are some guidelines to follow to maximize the quality of your printed photo cards. We’ve put together some tips and instructions for creating your best photo card design.
- Select a photo you want to use. When selecting or taking an image make sure it’s a high resolution image. As a general rule, the more pixels an image contains, the better the picture quality. A high resolution photo means that you have a high number of pixels.
- Images that you use need to be high resolution in order to view and print nicely. Here are some rough guidelines to follow. Please note that these are *minimum* resolution requirements. You photos should be at least this resolution for the size indicated:
- Size of photo when printed – minimum resolution required
4×6 size photo 690 x 460 pixels
5×7 size photo 805 x 575 pixels
8×10 size photo 1150 x 920 pixels
- Once you’ve selected a photo you want to use, you’ll need to make sure it’s in a format we support. Curently, we support upload photos in .jpg, .gif and .png format.
- To upload your photos the design center click on the Photos section in the left hand navigation menu. Click on “Get Photos”. In the pop up window click on “upload photos in the upper right corner. Browse your computer for the photo you want and click “select upload”.
- Once uploaded, you will see it appear in the photo selections. Click on the image to add it to your Photos navigation bar on the left.
- Then just click and drag your photo to your design and customize it as needed.
- Once your photo is on your card, you can manipulate it to be just the way you want it.
- You can crop, flip, rotate or change the opacity of your image
- You can add in image effects like making your image black and white, antique, aqua, or sepia.
