Come spring and summer many of us spend the better part of our weekends fighting off the dandelions from our lawns. We scream, ”NOOOOOO” in slow motion as our children go to blow the “wishes” spreading the seeds of this dreaded weed. It seems however, that not everyone holds this springtime bloom in disdain. I stumbled upon this blog, 5 Orange Potatoes and they have a different take on this yellow flower. The post begins by a quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson that states, ” A weed is just a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered”. The post then goes into how to create various lovely crafts using the actual dandelion as a paint brush. They created signs, painted rocks, and just showed their general appreciation for the beauty of this plant. This blog is full of ways to help your kids appreciate nature in new and innovative ways. It just goes to show there’s always a way to find the beauty in things, even weeds. Next time the kids are looking for something to do, look outside for inspiration! Dandelion painting could be a great kids party craft at a summer birthday party this year!

Cute idea! Another idea is to make dandelion chains for crowns.
- by JodyThanks for wonderful words. Yes, we do LOVE dandelions and many other misplaced plants other people call weeds. A dandelion themed summer party would be unique and fun! Thanks again for the link back.

My kids love picking dandelions. These are great ideas. Much better than letting them wilt in that glass of water on the table!
