For a lot of kids, Memorial Day is nothing more than than a 3-day weekend. They don’t really understand the significance of the holiday and the importance of taking time to recognize American Heros who have died for America’s freedom. Our party experts have come across some great Memorial Day kid’s activities to help you show them why it’s such an important holiday.

Hero Stamps
There are many American service men and women who have helped to make the country great. You can design a picture of your favorite American hero for a U.S. stamp. Send it to the United States Post Office and they might publish your work! If you have lost men and women in the armed services close to your family, consider creating a stamp for them to honor their memory and dedication to America.
Patriotic Book
You can create a patriotic book filled with coloring pages of the U.S.flag, a bald eagle, liberty bell, Abraham Lincoln, etc. You can also include memory pages of family members or friends who have served in the armed forces.
Donate Time
Consider volunteering at a local veterans association or at the veteran’s hospital in your area. If you don’t have a lot of extra time, consider having your kids create thank you cards to distribute to the veterans in the hospital. They are sure to appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.
Write Letters
Have your kids write letters to our men and women currently serving in the armed forces. Help them to express thanks to our service people and let them know how much we appreciate what they do for America. You can even choose to sponsor a soldier and send continued support at treatsfortroops.com.
Be sure to take a minute to really remember what Memorial Day is all about. Americans owe a lot to the great service men and women of our Nation.
