White, Red or Both?winepairing.jpg

If you are planning on hosting a party with mostly finger foods and appetizers, you’ll want to have a selection of both red and white.  It’s hard to go wrong with and oaky Chardonny or a drier Savingnon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.  They will compliment just about any dish.  For the reds, you don’t want to offer anything to heavy.  A nice Pinot Nior or Zinfandel will work well.  For a sit down dinner, it’s really best to match the wine to what you are serving.  You can serve different wines for different courses. Champagnes and Sparkling wines are also great to offer. For a breakdown of what to serve with meats, fish, chicken and veggies, check out drinksareonme.net.

A Bottle Serves How Many?

A bottle of wine pours about 5 glasses.  For a dinner party you’ll want to make sure each person gets a glass for each course.  If you are primarily serving wine, a good rule is to plan on one bottle for every 3 to 4 people.  If serving other drinks, one bottle will serve about 4-5 people.

Variety is the spice of life, so give some variety to your wine selections! Having red and white or multiple bottles to accompany each course will only make the food more enjoyable.  Keep your wine tasting great all year; check out our great tips on how to store your wine.
