Playing poker is a fun way to spark a little competition amongst friends (and you can win a little money too). It’s important to understand the ranking of hands so that you can play your best. Here are the winning hands ranked from highest to lowest (1-10) using the standard ranking system.
1.Royal Flush
A, K, Q, J, 10
all of the same suit
2. Straight Flush
Any five card sequence
in the same suit
(Ex: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 all hearts )
3. Four of a Kind
All four cards of
the same index
(Ex: Q, Q, Q, Q )
4. Full House
Three of a kind
combined with a pair
(Ex: K, K, 3, 3, 3)
5. Flush
Any five cards of the same
suit, but not in sequence
6. Straight
Five cards in sequence,
but not in the same suit
7. Three of a Kind
Three cards of the same index
(Ex: K, K, K )
8. Two Pair
Two separate pairs
(Ex: Q, Q, 7, 7)
9. A Pair
Two cards of the same index
(Ex: 6,6)
10. High Card
Individual cards are ranked like this (from high to low):
A (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A
(Ex: K is higher than Q)
