I am a firm believer that the way to any one’s heart is through their stomach.  Everyone has to eat and it’s more fun to dine in good company than alone.  So making dinner for your date is possible the most romantic dating idea.   Cooking for two is fun and exciting.  Even if you don’t know your way around the kitchen, you can still pull off an impressive meal.  We’ve put together some great recipe ideas to help you plan a romantic dinner for two.

The most basic rule of is keep it simple.  Don’t go crazy an try and make the feast of the millennium.  Food that is well cooked and well presented doesn’t have to be overly complicated.  Stick to the basics.  Offer some munchies to start.  A nice cheese and fruit plate, veggies and a light dip or even a crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar are all easy and to prepare.

Main course ideas:

Stir fry.  Stir fry is a good way to go because all the veggies, meat and noodles can be in one dish and it doesn’t really need any side dishes.  Here is a great, easy stir fry recipe.

Pasta.  If you opt for pasta - skip the heavy sauce.  It’s an inexpensive way to get a great, filling meal.  Pair it with a nice green salad and some good crusty bread and you’ll have a delicious meal.  Take a look at these simple and light pasta recipe ideas.

Roasted Chicken.  Sounds intimidating but it really isn’t.  It’ so easy.  You can also pair this with a nice green salad or some roasted vegetables.  Here is a simple roasted chicken recipe idea.

Salads.  A nice green or caesar salad will compliment most any meal.  But you can also do salad as a main course.  Check out this easy asian grilled salad.   Or go with a jazzed up  iceberg  salad  with French dressing.

Roasted Vegetables. Roasting vegetables is so easy and it really brings out their flavors. Try this yummy mix of roasted vegetables or this roasted carrot recipe.

Grilled Fruit.  You can do this indoors with a grill pan and just about any fruit you like.   We like this recipe for grilled fruit  with burboun glaze.  We also liked this simple grilled pineapple recipe ideas.

Dessert Ideas

Now we come to dessert.  Since I am not a baker, I say take the pressure off and  leave it to the pros.  Most grocery stores have beautiful bakery items and offer smaller cakes or cake slices so you don’t have to have a cake for 8 when you only need one for 2.  If you want to make it look somewhat homemade,  try making chocolate covered strawberries or take a store bought angel food and add berries (thaw frozen berries and let them sit in a little sugar before serving if you don’t have fresh. )  If you are a baker, then by all means make something delicious.  Try one of these quick and easy dessert recipes.
